Offer value details
Chime says it is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services are provided by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A., Members FDIC.
Qualification requirements
A Chime Savings Account requires an active Chime Checking Account. Chime says Plus requires at least one $200 qualifying direct deposit or $400 in cumulative qualifying direct deposits during the preceding 34 days, while Prime requires at least $3,000 during the preceding 34 days. Chime's current official pages agree on 0.75% standard and 3.75% Prime APY but conflict on whether Plus earns 2.75% or 3.00%; rates are variable and the app should be checked before relying on the Plus rate.
Fees and costs
Chime says its checking account has no minimum balance requirement, monthly fees, overdraft fees, or fees for using direct deposit. Chime lists a $2.50 out-of-network ATM or over-the-counter cash withdrawal fee and a 1.75% instant-transfer-out fee.
Availability
Available to approved U.S. Chime applicants. Cash deposit timing and fees can depend on the third-party retail location used to add funds.
